Scale model cars come in a variety of colours, shapes and sizes but it needs a creative builder to make them come to life. Building scale model cars is more than piecing together pieces of wood or plastic. Some of the tricks and tips you can use to have the best model include:
Understand the subject
For you to make a good scale car you should understand the subject very well. You should know the types of cars that exist, the methods used to build the cars and how to go about the construction. If you are a newbie, you can do your research and watch videos from other people who have built model cars.
Read through the manual
Even if you think you are working with an easier and common model, you should always read the manual so that you have a general idea of how the assembling is done. A manual will elaborate the little details such as whether some parts should be painted or not. Understand every part before you start joining the parts.
Use the right tools
Use small side cutters and not knives to remove parts from the tree (also known as sprue. Using a knife will damage parts, especially the small parts. You should always be careful to prevent damaging the whole car by using the wrong tool. Some of the tools you will need include tweezers, hand drill, files, paint brushes, screwdriver and razor saw.
Wash everything before painting
The moulded parts of the coating always have a release agent and so you should make sure you wash the parts before you start painting. You should also wash your hands to get rid of the fingerprints that smudge as you handle the parts. After painting, resist the temptation to touch the parts until it is all dried down.
